Masala Dosa Recipe
Dosa is one of the most popular South Indian recipe. It has number of varieties, this breakfast recipe is delicious and loved by everyone. This is a healthy recipe for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Masala Dosa is a tasty recipe that is made using rice and lentils. This is served best with coconut and tomato chutney and also sambhar. This masala dosa is stuffed by lightly cooked potatoes, onions, green chilli and spices. Pair it with different chutneys for a meal.
• 2 cup parboiled rice
• 1/2 cup urad dal
• 2 pinches salt
• 1/4 cup refined oil
• 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
• 1/2 kilograms boiled,cubed,peeled potato
• 2 medium chopped green chilli
• 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
• 1/4 teaspoon powdered turmeric
• 2 pinches salt
• 1 1/2 cup sliced onion
• 2 tablespoon refined oil
• 10 leaves curry leaves
• 1/4 cup water
How to make Masala Dosa
• Step 1
To prepare the batter for masala dosa, wash and soak the rice (with fenugreek added into it) and urad dal in two containers for roughly around 6-8 hours. Once the rice and urad dal are soaked, grind them separately in a mixer till it gets a smooth. Take the batter of both the ingredients and add little salt to it. Allow it to ferment for 12hrs.
• Step 2
To prepare the filling of the dosa, heat the oil in a thick-bottomed pan and add mustard seeds in it. Now add choped onions, curry leaves, green chilies and saute them till the onions turn pink. Later add a pinch of salt and turmeric powder and mix them well.
• Step 3
Now take the cubed potatoes and add them to the onions, and mix them both. Add some water into the mixture and allow the potatoes to simmer the mixture for around 5 min. When the mixture is in half-thick state, switch off the gas knob and let it rest for a few minutes.
• Step 4
Now take a dosa pan and heat it on low-medium flame. Smear a little oil on it to prepare the dosa. When the tawa gets heat, pour and spread the batter of urad dal and rice in a circular motion.
• Step 5
While the colour of dosa edges turns into brown, switch the flame to low and sprinkle few drops of oil on the dosa sides and put 2 tablespoons of filling. Fold the dosa. Serve hot masala dosa with coconut chutney and sambhar.
